About
A drawing that faded off the wall in two summers
Nestora Terrace is a sole proprietorship based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, operating online as Nestora Terrace (nestoraterrace.shop).
How this started
A pastel drawing that hung in a stairwell and lost most of its reds over two Bhopal summers. The set had been sold as artist quality. There was no lightfastness rating anywhere on the box, and the pigments in the warm range turned out to be dyes.
Lightfastness ratings and pigment indexes are on every listing here where the maker publishes them, and where they do not publish them we say that too, which is the more useful sentence of the two.
Artist quality is a phrase anybody may print. A pigment index and a lightfastness rating are not.
Our commitment
Pigment index and lightfastness where published
Printed on the listing as the maker gives them. Where a maker publishes neither, the page says so instead of filling the gap with adjectives.
Stick count and dimensions
How many sticks, at what length and diameter, and whether they are square or round — which decides how a set behaves on the side as much as on the tip.
Opacity and binder named
Soft, hard or oil pastel, and for paint whether it is student or artist grade by the maker’s own classification, marked as theirs.
What we will not say
We do not describe anything as archival unless the maker rates it so, and we do not promise that a fixative will stop fading — a fixative holds pigment to paper; it does not defend it against sunlight. The honest advice is glass and a wall out of direct sun, and we would rather give it than sell a spray.
We trade under our own name and stock no other company’s branded ranges. Nothing here is presented as an official or genuine version of anything, and nothing carries a warranty beyond your statutory rights.
Online only
There is no showroom and no walk-in counter. Nestora Terrace trades entirely online and ships across India from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, which keeps overheads off the price of the goods.
